Legal Custody and Shared Parenting
Whenever possible, the court prefers the separating parents to enter into a shared parenting arrangement in which they share equally in the parenting duties, often without equally sharing in parenting time. In making a custody determination, the court is guided by the best interest factors including the parents’ wishes, the child’s wishes, as well as the parents’ ability to work together.
At Maciorowski Law, LLC, we will explain your legal options and help you fight for your children.
Relocation and Custody
When the custodial parent intends to relocate, particularly out of state relocation, it can require a change in the parenting time schedule, and sometimes a change of custody. It’s important to understand your obligation as a custodial parent intending to relocate and well as your remedy should the custodial parent move without proper notice.
Foreign Custody Orders
It’s become more and more common for parties to divorce in one state and relocate to another. In certain circumstances, the order of one state can be registered in Ohio for modification or enforcement. We can explain to you when your order can be transferred to Ohio and when it must remain in the originating court.
